Defect-associated absorption and luminescence have been exposed and a means to lower them was suggested. The electronic structure, density of states, and many optical properties were calculated from the primary principles for Li2In2GeSe6. Calculated nonlinear coefficients and somewhat massive birefringence reveal a robust stage-matching capacity. T
